>>2807030Yes there were tracks, he had on snow shoes but it was still pretty visible that someone was around the camp. I'm not really sure the direction as I was in a bit of a panic. Either he came from the main trail, took the stuff, then headed out further into the backcountry or the reverse. I couldn't really tell with his showshoes he had. Plus he was in and around the camp for a bit it seemed like. Either way It was about 3pm when I got back to camp and saw all of this so I was in a bit of a panic since i knew that meant I'd be in the dark to even get back and the temps would be pretty bad. So I mainly just packed what was left and hauled ass.
I did report it once i was back at my car to the police, but I don't know what will come of it. They took my report, I showed them maps of where I had gone, camped at, and so forth and they told me they would be looking into it along with passing it onto federal agents, but he basically said more than likely I'll never see that gear again since the officer assumed the thief also bolted for his car and took off. I'm out of state as well so basically I doubt even if they find it I'll get it back anytime soon. There was 2 other cars at the lot that they took note of to follow up with once the people come out but without evidence they can't do much to them. There also is other lots around you can access from but it's a pretty huge area so idk if they also probably went around collecting those tags to follow up with too.
