it should be like push a button to start it, and there should be a sturdy donation box onsite but no required fees
maybe also a qr code so you can donate online for those who don't carry cash

The tour up is a mix of high intensity work out and hike. Then the ride down is in untracked powder, which is definitely worth it. It's a bit of a meme in the Wasatch because it's so crowded; it could be considerable avalanche danger and people still risk their lives going into high danger lines just for untracked turns. There's been four deaths there already this season.

I don't backcountry ski but I've done multiple 7500+ft descent days and let me tell you, I would KILL to have skiied down. It's awesome how fast it gets you down.

I think you are confusing backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering.

Similar, but different, things.

Ski mountaineering is about the climbing as much, if not more than, it is about the skiing.

Generally backcountry skiing is about the skiing. Rarely do people bother to reach a summit. It is extremely common to just boot up a couloir, with no interest in reaching a summit. They certainly don't do multiple day trips to reach a summit.

No, here’s my perspective. I ski downhill/glades all the time. Used to be a big park rat and hike rails during the newschoolers age of my life. Now I enjoy the hike up as exercise and time spent outside. The ski down is just icing on the cake. I got too old to be hucking cliffs and chancing it off booters or doing switch ups on dfd rails. So now I’m that older guy who does the sunrise hikes up and goes home to eat dinner before last chair

Not in gently sloping hill country. Actually not difficult to find in the SW US (plateau country) and the upper midwest. I mostly cross country ski or snowshoe or post hole hike.

Like the scars on mountains. In the ADK it's the only backcountry downhill people can really do.

I only own regular XC skis, good for groomed trails. No metal edges. Considering buying that setup (I've trialed it, it comes highly regarded, and I get a killer deal) with the goal of doing more fresh-snow back country and eventually doing some mild downhill.

I don't know how to tele turn yet but theres a little ski slope near me I'd practice on, but I guess I want to know what the ceiling is on that kind of a setup.
