you will be on a big icey/snowy slope
what happens if you slip?
if you're on a big enough snow patch you will gather speed and slide on your ass until you hit something or go over something hard and painful
if you have ice axe, you slip, and instead of a 30m slip and slide onto rocks or over an edge
you've just caught yourself and stopped the momentum
hurray!!!!!!!
look up ice axe self arrest on youtube
get one, go to a snow slope and practice sliding and stopping yourself
