basically, beetles are old, really, really old, everything is younger, much, much younger
beetles are already everywhere, they've had more time to diversify, this makes the chances much higher
all that diversification means that one beetle which has a 1mm longer antennae is a difference species from another
its not that its because beetles are beetles, they're diverse, its BECAUSE they're beetles, that they're diverse; this is easily observed with stuff like algae, moss, fungi, etc
