As for OP's question, I live here and it's alright I guess. Hot and humid most of the year, beaches can be nice, depending on where (Florida mogs), lots of cool spring fed stream and such and there's some decent out further North (Northern Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachians isn't bad). Apparently a ton of plant diversity, also lots of people grow semi-tropical stuff since you can do that here. Rains a lot, especially during the summer we get near daily afternoon showers. Locals are what you would expect, plenty of fat retards, rednecks, coastal good ol' boys, plenty of decent people but also a lot of "people of walmart" types. Excellent fishing, pretty good hunting too, but understand you'll be in dense shrubby bullshit, no long range hunting like out West. Love the look of palm trees with Spanish moss covered oaks. Most of the springs and more subtropical stuff is in Florida, Alabama is more traditional woodsy (and Mississippi I guess), then Louisiana is swampy.
Also average income is low, and cost of living used to be equivalently low but carpetbagging yankee cunts have fucked that all up. Also no shortage of bland suburban blight and strip malls and that crap.
