If I unzip my sleeping bag and turn it sideways it becomes a quilt.

I have a 0F sleeping bag that i use year around. If it's too hot in summer I simply unzip it and throw it over top of me like a make shift quilt

I used a sleeping bag for years, switched to a quilt once my trips extended past 7 days just because they're lighter, and if you're using a sleeping pad then warmth isn't an issue between proper pad + Quilt.
