I guess what I don't like is that the second it gets declared game lands, any and all maintenance stops, there's generally absolutely no signage not even a "you can park here" sign, no camping allowed, absolutely zero trail maintenance or blazing, even if there's scenic things to see in the game lands, and tedious arbitrarily timed gates
its as if they assume ONLY hunters would want to be hiking on public land instead of hikers too, so it's totally catered to that, and lazy as well
if a road can be open 2 months of the year, it can be ungated and opened the whole year
if there's a major view you can have a sign at the turnoff to it, a sign at the parking, a maintained trail, and blazes (painted or plastic) along the way
if there's a waterfall, same thing, but with steps
instead you just get the laziest maintenance possible and typically overgrown terrible conditions even in beautiful forests
it's just a shame really
