There is exactly ZERO reason to reduce stand density other than to increase the profitability of a later yield. Trees don't need to be thinned by humans. I could see an argument for expediting forest succession but that clearly isn't what you're talking about. Also, those trees aren't removed because you need the deadfall to build the soil. Soil takes about 50 to 100 years to make about an inch.
I could also see the argument to remove non native trees like eucalyptus because they literally emit flammable fumes when they're mature, but, again, that also doesn't seem to be remotely related to what you're talking about.
OP's pic is of a very small section of a managed forest. I wont speak to how fast the clearly incompetent forest managers will eventually fully deplete the soil my point was and continues to be cutting down a 15 to 20 year old tree just to build a temporary structure is legit retarded. Again, people like this don't just do it in managed forests it's the attitude and total disregard for anything and anyone but themselves.
