And I plan to go to Rome and then Medjugorje this summer (bicycle).

Also I need advices : I only have ten days maximum between Rome and Bari and I want to take some time to visit so I'm thinking about skipping a part by train.
Which part is the least interesting ?

Don't know shit about Italy. Looking forward to the summer when I am going to continue the St. Olav's way. I don't know about you but I carry a tent to sleep in because fuck paying for rooms every day. Going to be funn to cross the montains with 5 ish days without any stores. Catholics can try and rationalize it all you want. Praying to saints is EXACTLY like praying to a golden calf. So carry on with your performative worship. Tell us all how much of a good Catholic you are for going on a walk. You're just like those saints you worship.

If Jesus came back today the first thing he would do is walk into the vatican and start flipping tables. If you don't understand that allegory ask your priest to read the bible to you.

I live along the northern section of the California Missions Trail. Here are some maps and links to sites for more information. The trail is still something of a work in progress and not every route is entirely safe for walking. That said in stages I've walked from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. I've biked the route from Sonoma to San Francisco, but I only filmed the sections from Sonoma to Sausalito. I rode from church to church along the route.

I'm from Argentina, I have done plenty of pilgrimages there but we don't have really cool ones since there are no big churches in the part of the country where hiking is cool.
I'm in Europe now and I'm planning to do plenty of pilgrimages here, but probably on my own to important churches like idk Lourdes not a proper pilgrimage. I will do the Chartres one in a couple of weeks tho. Once there I will ask for cool pilgrimages so if there is still a thread about this I could report back then.

I’m slowly working up to a pilgrimage I’ve got planned for summer of 2027. I know, that’s a long way out - but what I have in mind requires a lot of prep.

My intention is to hike the pilgrimage trail in southern England from Southampton to Canterbury. I’ve read a lot of Chaucer and love the idea of chalk streams. The kicker: I intend to make the pilgrimage using ONLY 12th century appropriate gear and supplies.

I’ve got 2 pairs of historically accurate shoes made by a cobbler based off an archaeological study of shoes found on a contemporary bog body, I’m scouring literature and art to refine the construction of my tunic and hose, and I’m seeking sanctuary at the historic chapels that would have been along the route at the time.

In some ways, this is kind of like ultralight because without a modern backpack every ounce will weigh all the heavier so I have to pare everything down to absolute bare minimum. But in other ways it’s very anti-ultralight in that all the materials are wool, leather, wood, and iron. I’m used to backpacking, but the prospect of no tent, no synthetic water repellent layer, no padded shoes, and no fancy pack - just wool cloak, straw hat, leather slippers and a little canvas bag of apples and hard cheese feels scary, novel, and exciting. My ambition is to become simultaneously closer to the past, closer to grace, and closer to snufkin form the moomins

I know how touchy Brits are about “knoif”s, but I scoured their legal code and apparently there’s exemption in British law for carrying a knife if it’s for religious purposes or part of an ethnic garb. Frankly, I think it’d be a riveting legal debate as to whether a non practicing american “Christian” pilgrimaging / conducting arguably an autistically elaborate LARP was actually a religious endeavor and/or if 12th century Saxon garb constitutes an “ethnic garb” when these laws were clearly intended for Sikhs. I’d just rather not be personally involved in that legal debate, let alone the accused.

They have hostels called an albergues, that can be accessed with a pilgrim passport. Also some restaurants will give you a discount on simple food.
