So i want to go on a longer hiking trip to Mt Olympus this summer.
Ive done longer multi day hiking trips but none where you have to bring a tent and food for multiple days.
So whats your favourite stuff to bring along?
Whats some secret board knowledge?
Also what do you do for drinks?

Canned food.
I love taking sardines.
I also take german speck and cheese and bread and a bottle of wine to enjoy on the peak.

oatmeal, dried fruit, ramen noodles, dried cheese, smoked meat, jerky. Basically anything that is packed in paper or foil (cans don't compress and rattle, and jars are obviously too heavy) and is dry or dried.

stuff like canned sardines in olive oil are great since you can use the oil for a ton of stuff, so its not just water weight like a can of soup is
militaries still use them for a reason

Flour and yeast, a ziplock bag. Mix with water and wait for it to prove, cook like a flatbread on a hot rock in the fire. Always nice.

There is no reason you cant just fresh food and cook a regular meal like you would at home for a leisure trip of a few days. Or bringing/making fresh food thay doesn't require cooking. Unless you are in a really hot and humid place food will keep. Dried and dehydrated shit is for day 3 or 4 onward. Hardtack and other shit is for military or mission oriented trips, or historically because people traveling couldn't get fresh food easily. But we can. Wherever you are you can stop in a grocery store on the way to a trailhead and get any fruit from around the world regardless of whether it's in season. So don't bring dried fruit, bring a couple real fucking apples

i once made hardtack some years ago and had to stop myself from eating it from how good it was
it was literally just whole wheat flour & a fair amount of salt, but got damn was it delicious, all you needed was just a bit of hot water & you had a meal

i still got it after all this time too, i specifically made it to see how long it would last before getting pests

You can buy dehydrated soup in bulk at many supermarkets. It is light weight and cooks fast so you don't have carry as much fuel if you're in an area where campfires are forbidden.

i always bring dehydrated meals like pic related because they're so lightweight and easy. i usually bring a few nicer non dehydrated things as a treat like some cookies or something too.
its hard to beat these things for convenience if you dont mind paying the rather high price for them.
