Clingman's Dome is an artificial structure, it should keep that name. My wheelchair-bound wife "summited" Clingman's Dome, not Kuwohi
The mountain itself can be reverted to the traditional name

That's exactly what happened with the highest mountain in the Black Hills, South Dakota. The mountain's name was changed to Black Elk Peak but the lookout tower remains the Harney Lookout

I think the mountain itself is called Clingman's Dome. not just the concrete spiral thingy, because the mountain itself is dome-shaped.
Also, it's 330ft up, it's not easy if you are pushing a wheelchair up it. I mean I suppose if you have a power chair it's nothing.

My wife did reach the top of the Clingman's Dome lookout. It was a powered wheelchair meant for very lightest of duty off-roading but I still pushed it up so that the battery didn't give out - it was 40% me, 60% the wheelchair. The concrete structure is the easy part, the half-mile (paved) uphill from the parking lot to the structure was the difficult part.

I was imagining people trying to push up a manual chair while walking it, it was pretty hard for me cuz I'd been doing little hikes for two days all day prior

yup especially cuz u can hug the railing, I wish the whole thing had a railing
also luckily I got to mt mitchell last fall just a few weeks before helene
I saw tons of helene damage traveling through the va/nc border area afterwards

Yeah there is zero chance me or anyone else was making it up the paved path to the structure with a manual chair. The paved trail makes it look easier than it is, plenty of unencumbered tourist folks near us were stopping every 200 feet to catch their breath.
