are these extra guy lines actually important if I'm not camping in gale force winds? I've been just staking the four corners and two doors and haven't seem to have had an issue

Helps against strong winds and minimizes the sag (and condensation somewhat) that happens during rain fall. Also a great alarm when it trips the skinwalkers.

This. How important that is depends on your material but you don't want sag to let the two layers touch and soak through.

If you are going to use a little gas stove or a mr buddy heater in your tent then you should use them. Carbon monoxide detectors are for pussies just play it by feel.

Third this. For silnylon, it also really helps to tie a small loop of shock cord to these tieouts and the door tieouts. When the nylon starts sag, it keeps it tighter. Plus it gives a little bit of option for where you can stake it in, more airflow, etc.
