This is mainly for Ausfags, but feel free to join in.
Last year we had to do an overnight camp for a sustainability unit in school (year 10).
This meant supplying tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, the basic camping supplies for an overnight camp. Most kids had no problem, as their families had small tents and all that, because that's what Australian families do, right? they go camping.
My best friend had never been camping. His family didn't own a tent, or camping mattress. Yet every year they go on overseas vacations, in tourist groups and all that.
I have to ask how does someone grow up in Australia and go to Europe and Thailand and America, but never spends a night camping?
Thoughts?
