My favorite piece of rain gear is an umbrella. How well would it work while fishing or working on an oil rig? Is it the best choice for places I don’t go, like Mt. Whitney in late fall?
Conversely, a $350 Patagonia Whatever or Arctyrex Thing would suck balls in southern Appalachia in May, but those two options will no doubt be rated as “best” by online reviews and customer satisfaction. The reviews wouldn’t be wrong, just misplaced, as there’s no blanket “best option” for all situations.
