As long as you dont set right next to an anthill, nope. I accept that I have probably had spiders walk across me. I will use a tent for the height of mosquito season in the mountains though

Sleeping on an actual mattress is unbeatable, as is all the luxury items like chainsaws or fresh food.
I did a 5-day car camping trip a few years back and went from a backwoods campsite all by myself to a national park and stopped by town for real food then back to camp every day. Minimal setup required. Could sit in a proper chair, shoot guns, etc.
Backpacking is nice in other ways.

Truck. I've done tent, which is ok, for years. Did wagon a few times, very comfy. Now I camp in the back of my truck. Anywhere I want to go my truck can go and it's max comfy. I can't go back to a tent anymore.

Before I put a seal between the bed and the tailgate, it got a little dusty. With the seal between the tailgate and bed, I haven't seen any dust getting in. It runs down one side of the back of the bed, along the bottom, then up the other side. The canopy itself has its own seal that has always worked well. The only problem I've had was it leaked when I first got it when it rained. I have a rack on the top of it. A tube of calk fixed that.

I've done tents and hammocks for years now. Getting tired of the setup. Moving forward, I think I'm just going to set up a cot in my truck's bed with a simple tarp over top if even needed. When you think about it, if you're driving anywhere and will be posted up near your car, why even bother setting up a tent or hammock? Keep those for when you're hiking a few miles out.

oh hell yes. one night I got caught in a deluge that flooded the whole area, it was so cold out I could see my breath and the water was rising all around me. released the tarp and hoppped in the back with my beers and blankets, not another soul around and just fucking chilled away for hours with my candle lantern while the rain thundered on the roof like a waterfall. got nervous as the water ended up about halfway up my tires at one point, but it all ended well either way.
