>>283445>i wanted to do it with as little material as possible so i wanted to know what are the only things i will need- At least one cutting tool capable of preparing (at minimum) tinder. Ideally you have a wood cutting tool (hatchet), mid-size knife (5-6 inch), and a razor. And by razor I mean "small knife capable of holding a razor edge". If you can't make tinder, you can't make fire. If you can't make fire, you're going to be very sad, very sick, or dead.
- Some way to light a tinder bundle. I highly recommend two 99 cent Bic lighters on top of whatever else you bring.
- At least one container capable of boiling water over an open campfire.
- Food. Self explanatory unless you like hunting, fishing, etc EVERY MEAL when you get there, lol good luck with that.
- Shelter. Could fill up the text limit on the post with this. Can be as simple as only what you make in the field. Can be very complex. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND a tent + rainfly, sleeping bag + pad if you plan on actually sleeping.
- Pack. Need to haul all this shit.
- Boots worth a shit. When you're walking and carrying all your shit, surprise your boots (and feet) matter.
- Things for when SHTF. General med kit, snakebite / poison kit, emergency water purification tablets, emergency rations (you don't fucking eat these unless you have to), distress radio / GPS distress beacon.
If you go alone, understand that there is a very, very real chance you could be injured in some freak way with no way to call for help or help yourself. Break your leg or get poisoned 5-10 miles from the nearest trail and unless you have a way to call / signal for help, you're going to be waiting till someone stumbles by or realizes you're gone and they start looking. How long you going to last?
If you want to be safe, go with a buddy or have a planned time to check in with someone else via cell or somehow. If you can't do that:
