Why can't you build a multi-lane divided highway to Everest base camp and then build a plexiglass enclosed heated road to the very top so people don't have to risk DYING to see the views?

That won't fix anything and it'll be impossible to maintain. The air above a certain altitude simply does not have enough oxygen to keep brain cells from dying. Also it's a fucking TERRIBLE idea for AMS. There's a reason it takes a month of prep to do everest.

the biggest issue there is the annoyingness of how limited their hours are tho I will say chimney rock having an elevator is NICE cuz there's still like uh 250 ish ft of steps to the very tippy top from the elevator

Helicopters don't work well at that altitude because the air is too thin. Only one helicopter flight to the summit has been successful and that was made by a highly experienced pilot in a heavily modified helicopter that couldn't carry more than him and barely enough fuel for the trip.

They've just recently started flying to Camp 3 (only for emergencies afaik but they couldn't do it all until a few years ago) so I guess things are gradually trending in that direction.

afaik they planned to build a huge mountaineering center in base camp, but the plans were reevaluated for "environmental concerns", which I don't really buy as an argument. I suppose one paved road to base camp is not logistically sufficient for such large project in the middle of nowhere. at least there's wifi now.

Airships can already ascend to nearly the height of Everest. If you're just interested in the view, modifying airships to work at 30,000 ft would be better than trying to come up with some way to put normies on the summit of Everest. While airplanes can already do this, if you want to linger (or just mosey around slowly), an airship with observation gondolas would be a far better experience.
