I was hiking to picrel but the bridge was washed out and we didnt want to do a chest deep water crossing so we walked around a lake, which turned out to be a marshy fucking mess but whatever. Cross a fallen log further upstream and 2 minutes later there was a big, raggedy looking bear just walking through the forest maybe 20 feet in front of me. He did not care about my presence, didnt even look at me. Honestly I felt invalidated. Did I smell? Did I not look meaty enough? Fucking prude.

Bears have never seen me as a threat to them, though some have been shy and run away when they noticed me. I nearly always hear them before I see them. It's ironic how cityfags are so fearful of bears when their urban environment is full of vicious nasty humans who are much more of a threat than any bear.

unless you spook a bear majority of the time they want nothing to do with you. Bears do not actively hunt humans. It's only in cases where bears are starving or have been accustomed to humans to lose their fear of them that they would. That's why you're not supposed to feed wild animals in general.
