So, im planning on backpacking the Appalachian Trail soon. Im tired of city/suburb life, and having to fit into a technology based world, where nothing seems to matter. Ive lived outside for three months in Utah afew years ago with a small group of other backpackers, but that was a wilderness program for fuck up kids.
My questions are
>what should i bring?
>how much money do i need?
>should i try to get a friend to come with me?
im not incompetent when it comes to surviving outdoors, can build a fire without matches/lighter, know how to fish, strong, lots of endurance, handy with knots, etc.
I am going to bring matches or a lighter, have a good internal frame pack, bringing a hammock and tarp instead of tent, and a big ass knife.
any advice is welcome.
