In comparisson with denim they're as- or more durable (the vida-pro also has reinforced areas as in the pic), lighter, more comfortable when wet, dries a lot faster and if treated with wax also water resistant.
Apart from that I like the pockets and their placement and that you can tighten the end of the legs in. This way you can also pull them over your calves if it gets too warm.
The G-1000 fabric is also more resilient to embers and sparks than the synthetic materials that a lot of outdoor clothing is made of.
All in all an expencive but fantastic pair of /out/-pants. Of course it depends on what you are going to be doing outdoors and in what climate. As for me, I do mostly hiking and trips for anywhere between 2 and 14 days in Scandinavia
