>>30517>No summer camp See thats what I'm talking about. I'm good at handling people in tight situations, and I do a good job at keeping my head when the going gets rough and others get frustrated (I like the way this sucks! kinda mentality)
I just don't like being handled and it would kill me to show up there and be treated like a child and subordinate when I'm looking for an adventure. I find that alot of these programs and ones similar to it tend to have a
"You are the kids here, and we are the adults" sort of approach to things. Like I said, I don't have a problem with someone else being in control or having authority, leadership is essential to any kind of expedition like this. I'm more than eager to sit down and be told what to do by someone far more advanced than I am, just not in the way they describe it.
"Very structured" comes across to me as
"We'll be telling you exactly what to do, and you'll be doing it no questions asked". Again, I get that you are there for work and a purpose, one that I'm all too willing to complete, but I'll take a leader over someone who views themselves as a kind of "camp counselor" role, who is just taking care of some kids. (Which again, is the basic vibe I get from Ameri-corps as a hole)
I don't mean to rag on your time there, I'm just trying to get a feel for this. I'm sure it is a great program that has done tons of good for people, (Like yourself)
