Bought one of these recently. Fun as shot but I'm a horrible shot. Was wondering if you can consistently get small game with this and hear any slingshot tales you have.

Use that to practice for a while

If you want to get small game, you need very good accuracy and good heavy ammo like steel ball bearings

The effective range is determined by you, anywhere that you can get a solid hit on a ping pong ball is within your humane range, basically you should be hitting them in the head

After you get better with that one, I would make one or buy a better slingshot

Large rocks, hardened clay balls and marbles also make acceptable ammo but its not nearly as true or hard hitting as ball bearings, lead balls or hex nuts

You can get amazingly accurate but you need to shoot a fucking TON.
Also do not try to aim. Must shoot by feel.
Muscle memory is the only way.

Yes, I guess it should be mentioned, its even worse with hex nuts, but as long as you don't shoot hard objects you are usually fine

Always wear safety glass, to protect from ricochet and in case the band snaps at the fork end while you're aiming

Used to kill the occasional rabbit with one when I was a kid. Best ammo is marbles, they shoot flatter than steel balls and pack enough punch for rabbits and squirrel.

Bought a couple a few weeks ago, been shooting with my seven year old. The muscle memory is still there, I was surprised.
