Critique/Suggest/Help for My Veggie Herb & Flower Garden!

No.293013 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hi /out/

Please critique/improve/suggest/praise my layout for a raised/pyramid/tiered garden box I prepared for veggies herbs and flowers. It has been built, fertilized, and is just about ready to go.

Box is 5'x5' on the bottom, 3'x3' in the middle, and 1'x1' at the top while the height of each respective layer is 6" (the uppermost layer is about 18" from the ground at maximum height).

The main plants (2x2 spaces on my grid) will be 5 different indeterminate tomato varieties, 2 hot/spicy peppers (Peruvian Aji), one Bell Pepper, and a Bee Balm plant.

The rest are compatible flowers, herbs, beneficials, and 'helper' veggies.

If you can't read my writing, they are as follows:

Vegetables
-Tomato
-Hot Pepper
-Bell Pepper
-Carrots

Herbs
-Oregano
-Sweet Basil
-Cinnamon Basil
-Spearmint
-Lemon Balm

Flowers
-Bee Balm
-Marigold
-Calendula
-Nasturtium
-Lavender

More Herbs
-Borage
-Yarrow
-Thyme
-Mint
-Chamomile

The carrots are mainly for aiding the tomato roots to grow deeper but I'll be happy to eat them when they're ready so I'm not growing the carrots as primary consumption crops. Also keep in mind that they will free space in the boxes if things seem crowded already and the herb varieties are small (anywhere between 8" to 30" in height at maximum). I'm also 90% certain there isn't anything incompatible with another plant from my list; e.g. they will grow harmoniously with one another.

I'm starting ALL the above plants from seed, in fact, I'd like to share the same 'birthday' as my plants so I'm going to start the seeds indoors today if all goes well. Let me know!
