>>294538My uncle got me started pretty much. My dad took me a few times but looking back I realize he was a moron when it came to fishing. My uncle was pretty poor and unemployed alcoholic though I didn't realize it when I was a kid. We only fished for bream and catfish. Only fishing for numbers to eat. I would go stay with him for a few weeks every summer and fish all day every day. Most of my friends growing up would like so go occasionally but were more wannabe fisherman than anything else. Same as friends in college. They would act like they knew how and then when we actually get out there they don't even know how to tie a descent knot. For this reason I mainly went alone. I just could get more fishing done without having these people trying to impress each other. Don't get me wrong I don't kind teaching others but they gotta at least acknowledge they know a damn thing about it.
I'm mostly a bass fisherman now and that I taught myself everything about that. The basics helped from my uncle but we only used live baits and pretty simple techniques. Bass fishing a different beast though.
