As a deck officer on a cargo ship, I have two plans for the happening that depend on the circumstances.
Scenario 1

Scenario 2

At my house/compound, we have plenty of food, water, and weapons. My group of 8 all live on 20 acres on a river in California. Whenever we have time, we build stuff that can help us live a good life later on. We have bunkers, a hydroelectric waterwheel that can be used for milling, traps for the salmon run, rifles for deer, running water, plus 5 acres of terraced farmland with irrigation from the river. The best part, we have easy access to the sea for hunting seal/sea lions/otters. With a couple boats, we are set to be river pirates/traders.
