Mackerel was my favourite, although some of the lads preferred tinned sardines.
For carbs I'd recommend dried noodles (ramen).
For flavouring, take a few stock cubes.
I also enjoyed South African 'biltong'. It's a bit like the American beef jerky, but better because it's slightly softer and has a more pleasant texture.
For sweetness, I enjoy dried fruit. Especially apricots. They are delicious.
The key is to keep your carrying weight as low as possible with maximum nutrition. But we're all different and enjoy different flavours. Good luck.
