A foreign power, namely the executive branch, drew up legislature without the input or consent of the states through Congress. Slave-owning states were negatively affected, so they revolted, although I'm sure most Yanks would agree with their opinions on state representation in national matters.
Anyway, I fly the CSA flag instead of the Navy Jack. I stand by the structure, policies, and culture of the Confederate States, which I believe is represented by my flag. Flying a battle flag, to me, shows one's support of rebellion rather than one's support of their heritage or political ideology. I also don't carry the flag with me or display it in photos, it flies proudly over my land.
