Starting with a question.

As somebody who's always used spinning reels, should I jump in to a baitcasting set up? Particularly for saltwater pier fishing & catfish on the ponds.

Uglystik Catfish Baitcast combo is on sale on their website, and it looks pretty appealing to me. I'm getting the classing spinning set up too for everyday stuff, but I've never used a bait caster before so I don't know if I should go for a regular spinning rod or baitcast (for the catfish/pier set up).

Any wisdom? I'm assuming the reel won't be that great; I'm ok with that to start with. Is it worth a shot?
