Okay so I found a couple rocks that I think are gold when I was hiking.

Here is one of the biggest ones. Can /out/ confirm or deny my suspicions? I am 100% sure it isn't fools gold but maybe it could be something else?

ive never seen real raw gold but ive seen a lot of fools gold and i think that might be what it is. dont take my word for it though

The uniqueness ADDS to it's value. You can take a specific density measurementregardless. What do you think the Assay Office would do if you went to the Assay Office. Do you not think finding the ratio of gold to shit was not an ancient problem, too?

The easiest way to tell if it's real is to know what geographic location it came from. Real gold only forms in certain areas of the world and fools gold in other places. So tell me the exact place that you found this stuff and i can tell you whether or not it is real. Showing me on map quest would be better yet. Good day goldanons!

Sooooo a few weeks ago I setup a new camp spot out innawoods, built a new fire pit, etc. Had a couple campings-out there the last few weeks, and just happened to go for a walk innawoods and ended-up at the spot.

Once of the boulders around the fire is crumbling a little (from the heat if the fires I suppose) and I noticed that it's full of shimmering gold veins. I brought a couple pieces back to investigate further. Probably mica, and it is a bit crumbly, but I have to look into this. You guise reckon this might be gold? If if actually is I have like a 100lb rock full of the shit :D

I live in MA btw, not a big gold region. But the gold that is found here is found inside quartz like this and not in nugget form. THIS COULD BE THE MOTHERLODE

Oh also, the bigger piece isn't the best sample cuz it's charred and didn't cleam-up as well as I'd hoped. I'll try to get a better sample.

hmmm maybe. been doing some research and it looks like the gold flakes want to crumble into glitter but it's hard to tell because the rock itself is crumbling and there's just flecks of the shiny stuff in it

just went over a bunch of the flakes with a neodymium magnet and they didn't respond
