>>310840It was years ago before the when the casinos started moving in. It's not totally horrible but Shreveport is a small city that things it is a large (as in very large) city. And having been all over the country, they are at the top of the list of worst drivers.
That said, there are nice things there. Some of the old areas that are kept up are quite nice and quaint. There are plenty of outdoor opportunities in easy drive. There's a nice jogging/bike trail that starts at Charles & Marie park and goes along Clyde Fant all the way into downtown. Half way between the park and downtown are excellent mountain bike trails...if a casino hasn't sat on them.
The best bar in town was the Noble Savage - when I was there, it was owned by a gormet chef who used to make daily runs to Dallas for semi-exotic shit like caribou and bison and made wonderful dishes. They served beer in the full glass yard (sat on the floor next to you when served) and had folksy guitar type live bands/singers on the weekend. It's been years so there's no telling what it is like now but that place was awesome.
