/x/ first, /xout/ after.
>>316126I've experienced sleep paralysis, but only ever in my own bed. It's always preceded by some kind of lucid dreaming of sorts. I'll be lying in my bed, able to look around - I can identify my surroundings, but it's in a sort of 'shadow', if that makes sense. Close your eyes and use your mind to imagine your hand while you move your fingers. That's what everything looks like.
If I try and get out of bed, the dream shatters and I wake up normally. I suspect it's because my brain is very logical, and it'd know better if my inner ear didn't match up with what I was "seeing" while dreaming.
The worst I've had was once when I was in this state, I looked towards the door to my apartment and saw a red outline around its perimeter. I thought it might be a fire, but then this really deep, bellowing rumble started. Soft at first, then louder and louder until it was Inception tier stuff. I felt like I was being stared down by Satan.
I woke up, but couldn't move. Panic only lasted half a second until I realized it was sleep paralysis, but after that experience, it was still pretty messed up.
The only /xout/ experience I can really say I've had was once when I was in my mid-teens. Our home had a wood stove for heating, and I was charged with bringing in the wood. One night, the wood box was running low, so my parents told me to go and fetch some firewood. The moon was out, so I didn't bother to turn on the lights we had posted outdoors. I knew the area well enough, even though the wood pile was... 100m away, maybe, in a bit of wooded brush to keep the snow off it.
Anyway, I entered the brush and just stop. I don't see anything, I don't remember hearing anything, but I just stop. My breathing slows, my heart slows and every muscle in my body is telling me to get the fuck out. I stand there for a second before turning and making a hustle back to the house. There was enough firewood to last until morning, dealwithit.jpg, etc.
