looking to get into some basic line fishing (I do a little bit of polespear already)

I'm in western australia

I'm not looking to get into anything serious. I just want to drop anchor somewhere start chumming the water and get some herring or squid for dinner.

maybe trail some lures while underway (lucky to break 8kt most days)

what are the must haves and nice to haves?
what basic setup would you suggest to use?
