You find a looot of trash. But, the bonus is that I have never driven anywhere to go metal detecting, so the only thing I spend anything on is batteries (and my time, your time is always worth something). So everything I find is a plus.
I have found a lot of silver, in the form of coins from before the sixties, dimes and quarters. Old pennies and nickels are my favorite though, my oldest and favorite was a Liberty Nickel from 1898. Some musketballs out in a massive nature reserve we have just outside of town, various belt buckles.
As for stories, a few. My first year hunting I was going over a very old stone wall, and stupidly slit my thumb nearly the entire length. The next year I fell into the river while trying to hunt on the bank, lol. Will post more a little later.
