Hello all! I'm just recently getting into wild edibles, but more specifically - the ones than you can pluck from your back yard. I think most people know about simple things like dandelion, but recently I've discovered plantain.

Not the starchy bananas, but ground cover (pic related) that when young can be thrown in salad or sauteed like spinach. However a friend of mine told me it can be used as a medicine. It is supposedly an anti-itch / inflammatory herb. I was out getting eaten up by mosquitoes the other day and there was one on my toe that really bothered me. So I reached down, grabbed a leaf, chewed it a bit, and rubbed it on my bite. Within minutes it no longer bothered me! I was totally amazed!

What medicines / foods do you have in your yard? Any good stories? Websites to use?
