Me and this packpacking tent..

No.316783 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm looking at buying my first backpacking tent. This one..

REI Quarter Dome 2 $299.99 ($199.99 during upcoming sale)

Backpacking
3-season
2-person
3 lbs. 1 oz. (1.38 kilograms) / Fly / footprint pitch weight - 2 lbs. 6 oz.

Floor dimensions - 90 x 54 (foot width) 44 inches (228 x 137 (foot width) 111 centimeters)
It's new design this year so not many reviews. It will be on sale for $199.99.. that is $100.00 off during the adversary sale coming up.

My main concern is will I fit in this tent! Its longer then some other backpacking tents I found slightly too short in the past but it's still really short at 90in / 228cm.. I'm 6'2 (74in/188 cm). With my sleeping pad and bag I don't want to touch the walls at all if I can. I know it will be tight for sure but I just don't want to get wet bag from rubbing off condensation.

The tent looks great! It's very light.. I know not they come light from REI now and many others, big agnes, tarptent, ect.. I should note I need to buy at REI because I have $380.00 credit from a return last year.. otherwise I would consider other options for retailers..

Any thoughts on the tent it's self? I love how it is 2 full doors I will be packing with my SO often and she is up more often then me in the night. That having accesses of keeping both sides open for threw draft is good. The vent at the top is larger then it looks in the picture. You can get to it from the inside to close it or adjust it for wind / rain.

other thoughs on REI gear or Tents general is cool with me
