>>320395>>320398I'm with ya on the natural lawn thing, as long as it's green and it isn't poky I let it be.
>>3203685 acre yard, an acre or two is a meadow we let alone. The mower I use is a 14-year-old Scott riding mower that my father and I have fixed the shit out of to keep it running. I love that old thing though, I've developed hektik mad skillz on that old horse, I can get borders, edges, etc. to only a half-inch of untouched grass, which makes my shitty weedwhacking job after look halfway decent.
As for tips,
1. If you're on a riding mower and plowing through a heavy/wet section of grass, pull up the chute guard with your foot or a rope or something, it lets the grass fly out better.
2. If you're not bagging, take off as much of the bagging components as you can, it lets you back up into tight spaces and squeeze under 4'-tall branches and stuff.
3. make one pass over your yard at the beginning of the year, THEN sharpen your blades. That way, if you run over sticks, rocks, dead animals, etc. that you couldn't see, you won't screw over your new sharpening job.
