Cross-Country Camping Advice

No.323667 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey /out/, I've lurked around for a few months sparingly, but now I come to you for a load of questions:

I'm going to embark on a cross-country car trip soon (from Georgia all the way to the coast, up to Oregon, through the Rockies, Denver, and back home) but I need to know little tips and tricks needed for the idiosyncrasies of camping for weeks on end (it's predominantly to camped innawoods in national forests)

What I have:
>90L xbox hueg internal frame pack
>30' x 20' tarp
>two fishing rods
>paracord (needed)
>GB Forest Axe
>Skeeter Beeter hammock
>Danner Hiking Boots
>mess kit
>medium sized pot (for boiling water)
>???

We're trying to fish as much as possible to keep to a shoe-string budget- what is the best all around bait for fish from Arizona to North Dakota, for example? With the trip in June and the route shown in the map attached, what are some smaller, useful tips needed to know? For example, how cold will desert nights in the Mojave be in June? What little things are needed here and there to optimize the trip in general? What animals and natural settings should be avoided?
