Sup /out/,
a friend was visiting me on the weekend and we went into the mountains. I took some pictures for you.

On Thursday we crossed the Nordkette and walked from Innsbruck to Scharnitz at the German border.
Here we are at ~1700m

At ~2200m we were practically surrounded by clouds. You can still see a summit cross in the distance.
The rest of the day was a 20km descent and not very interesting picture-wise.

Saturday we drove to Ehrwald south of the Zugspitze and climbed on the "Taja-Kopf" (2450m).
The ascent started in this forest.

We didn't really go to Mittenwald. Just Scharnitz. And we arrived there at ~20:30 on a national holiday. I haven't been there in almost 10 years except for picking up friends from the train station. Do you still live there?

I was this close to switching to Uni Innsbruck past semester but actually dropped out eventually. Is it true that Biology in Innsbruck focuses less on microbiology and bio chemistry compared to Vienna?

I don't really know about Vienna, so I can't really compare. A few years ago the curriculum was changed and all the chemistry stuff was put in the first semesters to scare off anyone who can't deal with it.
But the current professors that teach the relevant stuff do pretty fair exams.
You don't have to focus that much on biochem and micro if you go more towards botany from what I hear.

Drop-out rate over here is about 40% in the first semester - that's about 600 students. Bio-folks from Innsbruck advertise on the Uni Vienna to switch to Tyrol. In retrospective, I am not even sure why I went here in the first place. Highest altitude I can achieve over here is 540m.

Bamberg. Used to spend my summers in Meran and my winters in Mittenwald. I loved to hike to the Lautersee as a kid in winter. Still haven't gotten around going all the way to Elmau.

Yeah, it's just too high. Though there are a couple of really nice glacier lakes and streams in Stubai valley. And the dam lakes in Zillertal and Kühtai are pretty nice, too. Pic related, Blaue Lacke in Stubai.

Have you been in the Gleirschklamm? Next to Scharnitz. It's a pretty beautiful ravine and I really want to chill there with some friends this year and maybe bring some of these single use grills.

I've seen about every corner around Garmisch, Krün, Mittenwald, Scharnitz and Seefeld. Indeed, Gleirschklamm is beautiful. Although, there's quite a lot of people around whenever I was there.
