If you got bad knees maybe knee pads (this is for someone whos had knee surgery

But i use my sleeping pad for my knees and ass when i drop my pack

Helmet, vest w/ shoulder pads, elbow pads if I feel like it, armored shorts, knee pro, and good boots.

If I am going mountain biking on a difficult trail, I bring knee pads and wrist pads. It's uncomfortable biking with those on but I'd rather be uncomfortable than go over the handlebars and snap a wrist or ruin my knee. Those are the kind of injuries that will haunt you when you're sixty.
