Sometimes I take them out for a while, then put others in.
Just get some nice 1-day ones and try not to wear them any more than you have to (do you have a pair of glasses you can switch to if needed?).
I had a pair of 1-day contacts in while on a 3-day field exercise as a conscript with minimal discomfort, even if they dried out a bit. Probably not good for my eyes either, but it was a one-time thing.
Could be because I didn't really get any sleep, but still.
If you're worried about the hygiene of it, just bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer and wait for a minute or two without rubbing your hands in the mud like a disgusting pig.
