first one was 3.5" spring lift with cut fenders on 35's. lincoln locker in the rear, warn winch and stripped interior (just a drivers and passenger seat, the whole back was tools and storage (i used it as a deep woods recovery vehicle) the 2nd was was 2" budget boosted on 31's and had swaybar disconnects, used it as a DD and woods toy on the weekend. 3rd one was stock height with cut fenders 31's and a lincoln locker i the rear and outfitted for a bug out vehicle.

its so hard to find 98-99 xj's around here theres a pretty clean 2000 one with a 3 inch rc lift and brand new 32 mudclaws iv been considering its also in a great color for 2600 with 151 on it
because of op's picture i was considering doing somewhat of the same with a k5 blazer with new floors and rockers and a 6.2 diesel but im still leaning twords the cherokee

id go for a '00 despite what everyone says, just pull the valve cover and check for cracks before you buy it, worse comes to worse you can get a junk yard head for a hundred bucks or so. CUCV blazers are cool too, but big and cumbersome on tight trails. although you get more room and a bigger tow capacity (if you get one id suggest picking up a military trailer to tow behind it)

i have atleast 250 gallons of fuel oil on hand all the time (hence the multi fuel conversion) and would only be using the vehicle to get as far out as possible and for temporary shelter once i get there. hell im already pretty far out there but i could be pretty damn deep in the Appalachians on a half tank of fuel. and with a few hundred miles of power lines and trails in my back yard i wouldnt have to worry about traffic

i think the xj will be the perfect medium with a 2-3 inc lift and some bigger tires along with some inside modifications the 2000 i mentioned seems pretty good and already is lifted and has new tires

another tip: if you plan on building a rear bumper use square steel and weld the caps on good, put a female air line connector on one side and pressurize it to about 100psi, its really nice for keeping air on the trails (for airing up tires after wheeling) or an emergency air supply for flat tires

i pay 125/mo for 35 acres and a mobile home. but it depends on the county you are in. the only real downside is dial up internet and having to drive a good ways to get to the city (45 minute drive to get to anything other than a walmart or a small farmers market)

you go to the courthouse and get a list of properties up for auction (they come out 2 months before auction) and you do some research (look at the properties, go to the courthouse and check tax info, make sure there is no lein etc.) and the day of the auction they start them at whatever they owe in taxes and it goes up from there. most of the farmers that show up for the auction wont go passed 10k for a piece of land

Just got a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder LE with 130,000 miles. After my trade it for my junker it was 6000. Single owner, perfect carfax, really got babied by the owner. Never even been off-road.

Now the credit union I am financing through has the option to add on a warranty for 1400 dollars. It lasts 3 years or 65,000 miles. It would cover any type of failure except for front shocks.

Worth it?

Not a whole lot mate, she's probably 80% original. The rear canopy has been removed semi permanently, it can be refit but I have to remove the shooting rest and the swivel seat in the back(2 hose clamps and much wiggling/lifting).
Basically just wheels/tyres/springs/bar/spotties/window mount spotty.
Does the job, even if it does do it slowly with the old 3y.

What do y'all think about a 2000 Ford diesel truck with a camper shell and a biodiesel conversion? I see a few on my local Craigslist for not very much, and I think it'd be a sweet project--not just for survival-type situations but also (maybe even primarily) for camping at trailheads, etc.
