While there's a bunch of lake district talk, I've a question...
What would be a nice cumbrian scramble for someone who's already done jacks rake, striding edge, and sharp edge? Other scrambling experience includes crib goch, north ridge of tryfan, and britsly ridge.
I'm quite keen to up the difficulty a tiny bit now, but it's not essential. Main priority is just a good day out on rocks.
Any suggestions?
>>351096>What do you intend to do with those crampons?Well mostly snowy mountain paths, some on steep ish slopes - snowdon pyg track and the like. So basically 2), some places where a slip would indeed suck pretty hard.
The ad said "used once" and their condition fits with that when compared to my brand new pair... Some minor blunting of the points, light scuffing of the baskets, and various scratches. No dings or bent parts. Straps good, no damage. I've flexed the points with pliers and the heat treat is fine, they're good and springy just like my new pair, though I suppose it'd take an abusive machine sharpening to mess with that, and they've fairly obviously not been sharpened. Totally confidant about all points in this paragraph.
The only bit I'm uncertain about is one of the flex bars had a very slight bend in it, where it'd been stepped on. Would it be advisable to replace them? The scratches on 'em again tally with the 'used once' description. I'm fairly familiar with metal and heat treating from knife making and am not particularly worried, they're still very springy and show no signs of weakening... But, well, new ones are £9. I think I've just answered my own question there eh.
Just for fun, my ice axes are both used too... Wheyheeeey. A little simpler though eh, no damage worse than light scratches.
