Next Friday I'm leaving for a week-long backpacking trip in Glacier National Park. Anyone been there that can offer advice? I'm not new to camping, though this will be the longest backpacking trip I've taken (so far).

I grew up there...where are you going? GNP is pretty stunning but there's a ton of water and thus, you need a good amount of bugspray. the more deet in it, the better. There are tons of bears but bring mace, hang your food at night, and you'll be fine. there's also good fishing for bull and rainbow trout, if thats your thing.

Thanks. I'm kind of concerned that we're going to be there too early in the season.

The plan is to start in Two Medicine, cross Pitamakan and Triple Divide to St. Mary, and then follow Going-to-the-Sun Road to Siyeh, Highline and Avalanche Lake. We'll exit the park at Apgar.

Nope. Taking the train in to East Glacier, catching it out from West Glacier.

We'll be on foot/using the shuttles to get around.
