Hey sc/out/s, I just wanted to drop in and discuss my favorite outdoor related movie of all time: Alone in the wilderness with Dick Proenneke. If you haven't seen it, you can watch the beginning here:

Anyway, a dream of mine has always been doing something similar to this movie. I've wanted to find some open land to purchase and construct a cabin and have some time to myself to hone some skills such as carpentry, forging, stonemasonry, and other various things to work the earth.

I'm not planning on making something like this as a permanent residence, but I do think it would be valuable as a vacationing spot for myself.
