Posted this is fishing general, figured you guys would be more knowledgeable.
I've got a bunch of questions, as I just got a job at a tackle store and nobody working there seems to know anything. The main place people fish in my area is the Napa River, Carquinez Strait, and San Pablo Bay. People are mostly looking for Striper and Sturgeon.
How do people effectively use those fish/bait oils and jellys? Do they smear it on the bait/lure/rig/whatever?
What's the difference between hard lures and soft lures, and how does one properly use each? Can crankbaits be effectively used from the shore? Are spoon lures only good for trolling, or can one effectively use them by retrieving in a specific manner?
Is this (
http://www.protroll.com/products/echip/) a legitimate thing or a huge marketing scam?
What is the "best" type of frozen bait? We carry anchovies, sardines, mackerel, shad, herring, squid, grass/ghost/mud shrimp, lamprey, clams, and salmon roe.
Thanks in advance.
