Do you guys know much about fishing?

I live in South Carolina and I've started fishing a good bit lately. So far I've been to a few rivers in Upstate SC and caught some decent sized trout.

I want to go bass fishing now, but I don't know where to start. Every person I've talked to or website I've looked at acts like it's so easy but each source has different information.

So far I've figured out the places where bass like to hang out (near logs, under brush, shady areas) but not the right type of bait to use.

If you guys could offer your tricks and tips to me I'd appreciate it.

Also, is bass a good fish to eat? I've been cooking and eating a lot of the trout I've caught so far, but I've heard mixed opinions on bass.
