What company is better for tents, ALPS, Ozark Trails or Coleman? I've always been a coleman fan but is the quality of their tents any better or worse than the other two companies? Other recommendations are welcome too.

Im not looking for a backpacking tent obviously since these are all pretty big. Even then those are way too much for a tent.

If you want quality you have to be willing to pay for it. If you want a tent that is good for car camping for little while and dont expect longevity feel free to get a coleman or some other walmart tier tent. However, if you actually expect your tent to last or want it to last you must be willing to pay for better materials and craftsmanship which, as with all other industries, drives the price up.

Then would you say ALPS is better quality than Coleman? From my years of experience I never had problems with Coleman the only reason I dont have my original Tents from them is because I either donated it to my old scout troop or someone borrowed and never returned it. Other than that I don't believe i'll be doing any north or south pole expeditions any time soon so quality like hilleburg isn't necessary.

Hilleberg is for use in winter or above the tree line, not necessary just for the north or south pole expeditions. That being said all the three manufactures you listed are fine if you do not expect ultimate longevity or the ability to function really well in adverse weather conditions (high wind and rain for example). Honestly depending on what you are looking for and when you want to do it I would say that saving money would be your best bet to get a tent from a manufacture that has a better track record than the three you listed.

Longevity, ability to handle adverse weather, and waterproofness are key to me, all of these things are things that the three brands you listed have troubles with. Although they dont all suffer from the same issues they all have trouble with one or more of those categories. Lightness also matters to me but you seem to be car camping so I dont think that really pertains to this.

Another thing to consider is that if you want to use the tent this summer or not, if not I would suggest you wait until the end of the summer so that you could possibly get a good deal on a 3 seasons tent for cheap. Sales are the best.

Keep an eye out for sales at REI- I picked up one of their tents a while back for $125- a 4 person no less. Their store brand gear is actually pretty fucking good. As good as Kelty or whatever. Getting a Coleman tent because it's $50 cheaper than a decent lightweight tent is....retarded. Based on your list, def. go with ALPS.
