What is the best solution for air conditioning for tents? I'm thinking this sort of setup would work so long as there was 115vac access like how some places have.
But, when you don't have an outlet to plug in the AC you have to have batteries which means an inverter and lots of wasted money for batteries. Plus batteries don't last very long normally. Luckily, most small window AC units like the one I have only needs 115vac 7amps (740 watts). So, for sleeping at night you need at least 128 amp hours to last 8 hours. That's like 4, 100 amp hour batteries in order to keep it running without problems. Meaning I'd also need some hefty solar panels to recharge the battery array each day.
Sleeping at night is nearly impossible in many of the places I camp. It is normally 80F and 70-100% humidity at night. Which is like dying a sweaty death.
What does /out/ think?
