buy some rechargable batteries, i like them Eneloops, they wont drain if put in a box..

My LD-20 works fine on 2 AA Eneloops.
You can even buy the AAA version in a nice case.

Good grief, my local hardware store has a 48-pack of AAAs on sale a few times a year for $7. That, and every remote and gadget in my house takes them, so why not stock up? You might be the Hebrew for bitching about putting $0.44 worth of batteries in a flashlight that should last you a year.

Rechargeable batteries slowly discharge over time so they are better for short term high drainage uses like cameras. If its a torch for occasional use you want normal batteries because they will not need to be charged after six months in the drawer.

If I charge them to full the night before they need an hour of top up in the morning to get to full charge. The biggest loss is in the first day or so.
