Long time ago I frequented /a/. Then I got a life.
Left 4chan for a couple of years, but of course, you can never truly leave.
Came back and lurked /diy/ and /ck/. /ck/ is pretty cool, but /diy/ is full of dumpster diving and "how do i made moniez" threads, so it's mostly lame, which is a shame, because it had such potential.
I hope this board takes off, along with /asp/, which I feel is more than tangentially related to /out/.
I like learning how to do things. I'm a pretty good cook now, after chilling with /ck/ for so long. Not that /ck/ actually teaches you how to cook, but they teach you how to learn to cook yourself. I've always enjoyed "light" camping, where you head out to a park, set up camp, and enjoy campfires and swimming and the like, but still have access to showers and shitters. I'm sure that's looked down upon here, but it was my introduction to the outdoors, and I still enjoy it.
I took a real backpacking trip a couple of years ago with some friends. We hiked with West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, and I'd say just the exploration of an area that's inaccessible by vehicles is the greatest rush for me.
I'd prefer to do it with a duo or a group, and my girlfriend's not as into it as I am. The guys I went with last time are globetrotting going on 2 years now, so I don't have a backpacking buddy ;_;
